Chuck, if you’re eating any animal products at all, you’re not following the Genesis 1:29, the Hallelujah Diet, or the Sheltonian Natural Hygiene diet.

I think a good, clean, predominantly plant-based diet is great, but human beings also have to have some foods from the animal kingdom for long-term health.

I take it your version of the Hallelujah/Hygiene diet includes some animal foods like organic eggs? If that’s the case, good…. you’re teaching truth.

Although I know a lot of people who claim to be strictly following the Hallelujah Diet or Sheltonian Natural Hygiene diet, I also know that if they are pressed to tell the whole truth, they all admit to having “occasional” animal foods, which certainly makes sense since human beings are designed to eat clean foods from both plant and animal kingdoms. That’s why there’s never been a single culture on earth that was strictly vegan.

I’ve been researching this question since 1993, and in all those years I’ve never found any evidence of a 100% vegan society or culture in the whole history of human kind. That’s a simple matter of historical and sociological fact that can be verified.

Dr. Campbell has never documented a totally vegan society or even, near as I can tell, a 100% vegan group within the Chinese society, though he did study a number of groups who were so poor they had minimal animal foods for periods of time.

Regarding Dr. Campbell’s overall study, I’d suggest that you do more reading. He has not produced a study that is respected and cited by serious professionals in the nutritional field. My wife, a very serious researcher, has questioned Dr. Campbell’s research assistant about the proteins mentioned in his study, and the assistant was not helpful, at all. This caused us grave concerns as to the truth of what he was presenting and concluding.

Chuck, to deny that human beings are opportunistic omnivores who require foods from both plant and animal kingdoms is to deny reality. As far as I’m concerned, you can’t be a legitimate truth seeker if your mind is closed to evidence. And if you’re holding yourself up as an authority, then you owe it to the people who take your word as truth to tell them the whole truth.

My answer;

Dear Brother Chet

You seem to see only what you want to see and overlook anything that goes against what you chose to believe. There is no way that you can verify that there has never been a society that was totally vegan. Sorry.

Dr Campbell did document in his book that there were areas of China where no animal products were consumed. Also that there were areas where only very small amounts were used more as flavoring. As well as areas that eat a western style diet.

I have heard him speak and he confirmed this fact.

Of course his study is not respected by mainstream, so called scientists. They would have to admit that they were wrong. That would undermine their entire world view and every thing they teach. They would have to accept that they are the cause of countless pain, suffering and death. Human nature keeps them from doing this, just like it clouds your thinking.

Yes you are wasting your time if you are trying to convince me that everything I have learned about human physiology is wrong. Pigs are the only true omnivores. They produce many more enzymes for digestion of a wide variety of foods.

We humans don’t product Uri-case. This enzyme is necessary to digest the Uric acid in animal products. Without it we cannot deal with the high levels of Uric acid in these foods. Uric acid wrecks havoc on our bodies. We were designed for a 5% protein diet. Only a plant based diet gives us a 5% protein level.

While it has been demonstrated that few problems occur if we consume less that 4 oz of animal products per day, many people, me included have become allergic to animal protein and react quickly if we get very much in our diet. Even 4 oz/day several days in a row will cause arthritis type pain and other health challenges.

You say that “human beings are opportunistic omnivores” that is true as far as it goes. However to say that just because people eat meat to survive when there is little else to eat, does not therefore mean that their bodies require meat to survive.

Natural Hygiene teaches that we were designed for a 100% raw plant food diet. However it also teaches that if you are not able to resist animal products that you should stay under 4oz. per day and combine them properly to minimize their negative effects. That means that animal products should be eaten with a raw salad with no starchy foods. Is that the way you eat your meat?

To say that the entire system is a fraud or that the people who teach it are teaching heresy because they teach one thing and do another is wrong.

I am the only one in my family who eats the way I choose to eat. My wife now eats more fruit and vegetables than she once did, but will not give up her small amount of toxic fare. I do not judge her for it. I love her and try to set a good example. It is hard when so much toxic things are in front of me all the time.

My wife makes potato salad a few times a year with eggs in it. So Yes I eat the potato salad. When I go to a restaurant and have a salad I often have potato salad if it is available. I like potato salad but my body does not like it. If I have that much animal products in a week I only have minor evidence of the fact, that I deviated from the ideal. The fact that I had only minor evidence of an impact on my health does not make it OK.

If I have a little cheese on my salad the next day, and perhaps a veggie pizza the next and a little something else the next I soon have severe arthritis pain in the last place I was injured.

Personally I praise the Lord that my body chooses to send the toxins to my joints. Many people never know until it is too late that they have done much harm. I quickly feel it with sharp pain in my neck or my knees or some other joint.

No Chet, you will have no luck convincing me that I need the pain of arthritis. It just hurts too much.

Chet do you eat your meat raw? If not you cannot digest it. Cooking destroys the food enzymes that could help you digest flesh foods. We don’t have strong enough acid or any enzymes to digest meat. If you cook it all you have is deranged protein that is toxic to the body. Eggs are not any different.

True omnivores produce enzymes to aid in the digestion of the raw animal products they eat. If you give them or carnivorous animals a steady diet of cooked animal products, they soon get the same diseases we humans do. Cooking deranges the proteins and makes a toxic stew that overwhelms the bodies ability to eliminate those toxins. The result is that it has to either store them or increase, beyond normal, its efforts to eliminate the extra toxins. To deny this can only lead to disaster.

Do you get your milk products from sources that provide you raw milk products. Pasteurized milk has no value to any human over the age of 3 years. We are supposed to be weaned by then. We stop producing the enzymes we need to digest milk by then. If it is pasteurized the food enzymes in the milk cannot aid your digestion, so all you have is a high protein product that you have no use for, with a lot of empty calories loaded with toxic inorganic minerals, and added toxic chemicals.

If you judge the system as false because some of its leaders occasionally slip and eat something that they know they should not eat, and then assume that they are teaching falsehood because they don’t practice what they preach is the height of folly.

I will pray for you Chet.

I perceive that you are an angry man, that you feel that you have been wronged. I feel that you are lashing out in the only way you can, by accusing those who you are working so hard to put down, of teaching falsehood. I pray that one day you will see that you are doing harm to yourself and to those who listen to you.

Natural Hygiene stands on well established fact, Human physiology, and natural Law. The evidence is overwhelming. To deny this does not make you right.

By the way, Dr Donaldson confirmed that he based his statements that the diet was lacking in sufficient nutrients on the published RDA’s

It has been known for many years that the RDA’s are at least double what we really need. In their own literature the government states that they took what they guessed we needed and doubled it to give a margin of safety. When that is taken into account the vegan, Genesis 1:29 diet, has more than enough of every nutrient.

Diets Galore

There are so many diets it is hard to keep up. One day you hear about one that sounds good, and the next day another is making the news, what do you do? Which of the many diets is best?

What I do is examine them in light of Natural Hygiene. You are most likely wondering what in the world is Natural Hygiene? It is a philosophy of achieving and maintaining your maximum health potential in accord with human physiology (the way we were designed).

Our bodies are not all unique, as many will tell you. Each of us has the same basic structure, the same organs, the same nervous system, all parts functioning in the same way. The only differences are in how we react to our environment, and our appearance. Where one may be strong, another may be weak. Where one may be prone to arthritis, another may have a weaker heart, and another may be prone to cancer.

As an example, if you and I eat the same toxic substance, you may vomit, I may have diarrhea. Or if you and I both improve our diets in the same manor, my body may start dumping toxins, in an unpleasant manor, while yours may just feel energized.

As I said above, there are many very popular diets and lifestyle plans. They all can be evaluated by how well they align to the principals of Natural Hygiene, as follows.

Natural Hygiene shows us: Our bodies should be nourished primarily by raw plant foods, such as fruits and vegetables with some nuts and seeds. Animal products should not be used unless that is all you can get. If they are used they should be used in proper combinations and in small quantities, under 4 oz. per day. For proper nourishment we need adequate sunshine, rest, sleep, exercise, creative work, fresh clean air, and pure water.

So what does your diet plan tell you? Which ones are most in line with Natural Hygiene? Which ones are the furthest out of line?

The Hallelujah diet and the Genesis 1:29 diet are most in line with Natural Hygiene. They are both basically branded versions of Natural Hygiene. The Genesis 1:29 diet is basically the diet part of Natural Hygiene, with minor differences.

The raw food and living food diets are very close. However some of their followers do go off on tangents that move away from Natural Hygiene.

A mid range would include the Makers Diet and the South Beach diet. Both include things not recommended by teachers of Natural Hygiene. Both include too much cooked food. Many people who have gotten well on Natural Hygiene, then switch to these diets, have their diseases return, some have even died.

The SAD (Standard American Diet) is a proven disease maker. Americans are the best fed and sikest people in the world. If our health system was working for us we should be the healthiest country in the world. The SAD is close to the worst diet in the world.

On the far end would be the Atkins diet. Of all the diets out there I would rank the Atkins diet the most dangerous. Many thousands of people have been permanently harmed or killed by the Atkins diet. My uncle got my father on the Atkins diet, though I tried to tell him how dangerous it was. Both my father and my uncle died of a heart attack. Shortly after they died, Dr, Atkins died of a heart attack. The Atkins diet may suppress some diseases, but at what cost? Increased risk of Cancer and heart attack, are the main problems with this diet.

The Hallelujah diet has a great support system set up around the world, with Health Ministers in every US state, and most countries.

Natural Hygiene is the oldest system in modern times. Its roots started over 200 years ago. It was started by medical doctors who tired of watching their patients suffer and die in spite of their best efforts.

It was growing in popularity until the medical approach to health became more popular in the late 1800’s Especially after the Civil war. In the early 1900’s the germ theory of disease made it possible for people to blame something they could not see for their health problems.

More and more people are becoming dissatisfied with the way the medical mindset is destroying lives. They are seeing the flaws in the system. With the information age people are now able to learn the truth that disease is a product of what we do and eat. I think that is why there are so many diets out there.

So now people all over the world are searching for the best diet plan to latch onto. Natural Hygiene is the best alternative. It is the benchmark for all others diets to be measured by.

No matter what the advertisers say, you cannot be poisoned into health. All drugs are poison. That is why they list so many harmful side effects.

Why take a chance? Your health is at stake. Learn all you can about Natural Hygiene.

Make wise decisions based on facts, not theories. Don’t make decisions based solely on what tastes good to you. Don’t let someone scare you into a treatment plan. Disease is the result of living outside of our design. By returning to our design specifications disease will simply go away.

If someone tells you that you have such and such disease, it usually means that they have been able to name a symptom or symptom complex. Symptoms do not cause themselves. I repeat, Symptoms do not cause themselves.! It is extremely important that you grasp this fact. Symptoms are only the outward evidence of a body out of balance.

You have to dig much deeper than the symptoms that are visible. You must remove the underlying cause. Remember, only your body can heal. Your body is self-healing. When you remove cause, and give your body the tools it needs, it will heal itself. That is the only sane approach to getting well and staying well.

When you dig deep enough you will find that what you eat, the air you breathe, or some other thing that goes into your body is the ultimate cause of disease. If the diet plan you chose is not giving your body the tools it needs, and minimizing your intake of toxins, it is failing you.

The Value Of Water Content Food

Do you want to know how to feel good? Do you want to be vibrant for a long time? Take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Digestion takes probably more energy than anything else. The average meal takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to digest if combined properly. Incorrectly combined food can sometimes take up to 14 hours to digest. This is a very powerful way to conserve energy.

Take note: Recall the last time you had a huge meala huge meal when you felt so full you could hardly move. That doesn’t make you feel like going out and running a marathon, does it? How often do you feel like going out and running a marathon after eating a huge steak?

How would you like to learn something interesting? Starches and proteins require different mediums to digest in the stomach. One requires acid in the stomach to digest and the other alkaline. Now anyone with even a basic knowledge of chemistry knows that acids and alkalines cancel each other out.

If you want to have more energy you need to learn to properly combine your foods.

You’ve probably heard people say you need to eat more vegetables. I heard that too for a long time. It didn’t motivate me to go out and eat it. It wasn’t until I understood that food is literally the building blocks of all the substances of your body that I understood the importance of it. What you eat literally becomes your brain, your liver, your kidneys, your skin and your eyes. This is powerful. What you put in to yourself becomes part of your body.

If 70-80% of your body is water, what does it make sense to eat? Foods which have a 70-80% water content. Vegetables are the most important food you will feed yourself in your lifetime. Vegetables will cause your energy to increase, your skin to look brighter, your eyes to sparkle, your energy to rise and your libido to increase. Vegetables are high in almost every substance known to be essential to the building of the body and life.

For the next 7 days eat a salad with every meal.

See, would you take a green shiny apple, spray it with fly spray, then eat it? You know how ridiculous that sounds. Would you eat it? Of course not. Yet that’s what’s happening to our food every day. Our fruits and vegetables are now being treated with pesticides and industrial strength sprays that are poisonous to the delicate insides of our body. Some foods are now being treated with radiation. It’s now proven conclusively that radiation contributes to cancer.

If you tried describing sex to an alien, they probably wouldn’t understand it until they experienced it. They wouldn’t understand it until they did it. You won’t understand the power of making at least 50% of your diet vegetables until you take this and do it. Vegetables are around for a reason, and for the same reason there are no hamburger trees!

Organic food contains up to 3 times the amount of nutrients of conventional fruit and vegetables. How would you like to eat spinach and have the nutrients of 3 times the amount? I certainly would. As food grows, it’s draws nutrients from the ground. The better the quality of soil, the more nutrients can be drawn into the food. Research reports many of our foods are missing vitamins, minerals, enzymes etc because of depleted soils. Buy organic food wherever possible.

The brain knows when you are full, because the stomach sends a signal to a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is 12 minutes “behind” the stomach. There is literally a 12 minute delay between being full, and your body knowing you are full. When you stop eating before you are full, you give your body a chance to recover energy.

Sugar is widely considered to be one of the most dangerous substances for the body. Avoid it at all costs. There are a few other ingredients to keep away from if you are serious about your health and energy. Salt dehydrates the body. It’s not widely known that black pepper is 17 more times irritating to the liver than alcohol.

That brings us to the next point, caffeine. I understand people love their coffee. I was once a coffee drinker, before I became interested in health. Caffeine gives us energy because it opens up the capillaries in the brain. The same effect can be had by deep breathing. The challenge comes when the effect of caffeine wears off. The capillaries in the brain restrict causing us to feel lethargic. Caffeine works because the body has to “speed up” to cope with the dose of poison it’s been given.

Unfortunately, while alcohol has perceived benefits, it is pure fermentation and decay, rotting sugar. It is absolutely toxic.
There are other things you also need to be aware of. White rice is treated with bleach. It starts out brown and is bleached to become white. What about white flour? It’s also bleached. What about sugar or pasta? They too have been bleached to give a false sense of purity. Would you go to your laundry cupboard and drink bleach? That’s preposterous, yet most of us eat food treated with bleach. Bleach has the effect of ripping the stomach lining - an effect that is similar to the drug ecstasy. A report out of Germany states “they’re putting fine pieces of cracked glass now in ecstasy, those pieces have the effect of putting finite tears in the stomach lining enabling the substance to enter the bloodstream more quickly”.

Do you like food? Amazingly, most people I interview say “Yes”. What’s the purpose of eating food? While it tastes good and feels good, physiologically eating is the building blocks of the body. Skin, eyes, internal organs, joints, white and red blood cells, they are all built out of the food and liquid that goes into our body. So logically, what’s one of the most powerful ways to change the appearance your eyes, skin and strength of the organs?

Change the building blocks that you choose to take in. Literally improve the food you eat. There’s an old saying that goes “There was no hamburger in the garden of Eden”. Religion aside, when your body starts getting the food it wants and needs, it will start to desire healthy foods. Try it; you’ll literally make new food choices.

Due to the common diet, most people’s bodies are full of bacteria; these bacteria are what are responsible for cravings for terrible food. It’s not the built in mechanism of the body to crave these substances, it’s the bacteria! No one smokes a cigarette for the first time and says “Oh boy, this tastes great!” Over time, the body learns to adapt to the poisons put in.

As you give your body more and more wholesome food and treat yourself with respect, you will naturally crave better and better food. There are plenty of delicious recipes around, recipes that will leave you with energy for hours rather than tired and bloated. It’s just that very few people know about them.

Eating natural food will also return your body to a more wholesome weight. Have you ever had the case of eating a big meal and immediately afterwards having to go and raid the cupboard? Why is that? The brain has a built in survival mechanism that when it senses the body is lacking nutrients, it tells us to get hungry. That is the sense of hunger is the body telling us it needs nutrients. If you suffer from the problem of being frequently hungry, it’s because the hunger mechanism is literally turned on all the time, the body is in a constant state of asking for nutrients. Due to our poor diets and low nutrients in most of our foods now, many people find themselves living in a case of constant hunger.

Ideally, you should invest in a “juicer”. A juicer takes all the nutrients in food and releases it for the body to absorb readily and quickly. A glass of vegetable juice is more filling than an entire pizza because of the concentrated amount of nutrients.
